Appointments

Appointments can be booked over the telephone, in person or online through www.patient.co.uk. You can express a preference as to which GP you want to see. Please note that if you are more than 10 minutes late for an appointment you may be asked to re-book.

Telephone Advice

If you need to speak to your doctor/nurse please call the surgery before 12:00. The receptionist will take your details and the GP will call you back at the earliest opportunity. If you call after 12:00 or if the GP is not in that day they will call you on their next working day.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it may be appropriate for us to redirect our patients to our Nurse Practitioner or Practice Nurse rather than a doctor. Our Nurse Practitioner is qualified to issue prescriptions and deal with many ailments.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Home Visits

If you require a home visit, please try to telephone reception before 10:30 if at all possible.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

Sickness Certificates

You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).

Please call us for more advice is you think that you require a sick certificate. 

Statement of Fitness for Work - ’Fit Note'

The 'fit note' was introduced on 6 April 2010. With your employer's support, the note will help you return to work sooner by providing more information about the effects of your illness or injury.
